March Town Moorings

The Middle Level Watermen's Club have been bombarding local politicians about the state of the public moorings in the town.

Due to this and others sending emails we have managed to get some action and notices were issued to remove those boaters who have continuously abused the stated mooring time limits.

The March Town mooring before notices were served on overstayers.

We now understand from a reliable source that nine boats have moved out from the town moorings and have relocated near to the old go kart track. Rubbish has been left on the banks in town and sewage poured into the river. The Middle Level Commissioners and the Environment Agency are now dealing with the clean up situation.

We are a boating club for the whole of the Middle Level, not just March.

Now that we are having to pay for the use of the waterway we feel that we have a right to our say on how it is managed for all our boating community.

That is why we asked to join the Navigation Advisory Committee and now take a very active roll in how the waterway is managed for boaters.

They say there is strength in numbers so anyone that wants to join our club and help mould the navigation of our waterway please do so.

If you are not a member and have issues with anything concerning navigation please do contact us and we will do our best to help resolve the problem.

Colin Ovenden, A/Commodore MLWC.
